What is The Responsible Sibling?
When a parent dies, someone becomes "the responsible one." Usually it's not by choice. You are assigned...whether it be by a will, by everyone else opting out of the responsibility, or just being the sibling who picks up the phone. That person is suddenly an executor: filing with the court, tracking down assets, managing deadlines, fielding family tension, and doing all of it on top of a full-time job, a family of their own, and grief that hasn't had a single quiet moment to land.
The Responsible Sibling exists for that person.
This is the place adult children go when they've suddenly become the executor of a parent's estate and have no idea what they're doing, no time to figure it out, and no patience for legal jargon or $400/hour answers to simple questions.
What information does this platform NOT provide?
This is not a law firm, not a financial advisory service, and not a "we'll handle it for you" concierge. It's education, advocacy, and a map of the territory built by someone walking the same road in real time.

Probate law varies by state and by estate and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something. What I offer is the orientation, language, and confidence to ask better questions of your attorney, your parents, your siblings, and yourself.

I'm the founder of The Responsible Sibling and the executor of both of my parents' estates. I'm building this platform as the resource I wish existed when I started. The Responsible Sibling covers the administrative side of probate: what to do, what to expect, and what nobody tells you about settling a parent's estate while working, parenting, and grieving.
