August 2023 became the final month I'd see cringe social media content explaining to dancers what they should do for "get it quick" results in dance. Like any other time, I sighed, spoke out loud how annoyingly misleading and fleeting that sort of content can be. Only this final time lead me to do something about it.
The content aspect also shed light on another fact. There is a demographic of dancers that are being highly underserved. Those are our college dancers aspiring to become professional dancers and other pre-professional dancers. I knew I had to do something so, The Dance Career Coach was born.
Prior to launching, I researched to see if anyone or any company had already been catering to this specific demographic, concentrating on coaching collegiate and older pre-professional, training dancers through pivotal building blocks in order to create and sustain a professional dance career. Dancers need the inside scoop on professionalism and "power-branding concepts" that aren't widely really taught anymore. Social media places great emphasis on "the step", yet, there are hundreds of talented dancers unable to book full-time contracts or have dream-worthy experiences. Some dancers have a difficult time crossing over to a professional lifestyle, in many ways. Here, dancers grow to become world-changers. Dancers also grow in confidence and learn to implement timeless concepts for diverse success.
My goal will never be to help dancers pivot from their passion nor succumb to the rapidly changing landscape in our world: suggesting mediocrity is permitted while standards are optional. How I coach dancers is how I've always worked within my career. My mission is to build visible, valuable dance artists and leaders of the industry through mentorship, coaching resources, teachings and social posts— creating generational mindfulness of dance career longevity. My vision is for dancers to reclaim the regality and integrity of professional dance through knowledge, excellence and performance, capable of carrying the legacy of greatness that was birthed before us.
Not only have I been where many of the dancers that interact with me on Instagram are, it helps that I am actively within the Arts/Entertainment Industry as a professional dance artist and teacher. This gives me a unique and ready perspective, allowing me to not only give credible coaching but to be able to walk through this journey with dancers as they experience different scenarios against our world's changing landscape.
I am incredibly grateful to have had the experiences I've had to far. I value the history makers and dance legends I have dined with, spoken to and danced with. Coming to realize those experiences weren't just for me, I immerse myself in educating and crafting teachable moments each time I can, whether through social media content or coaching. The Dance Career Coach was created for the dancers and I am extremely grateful to be in this space.
