Although this is tradition does not originate from Haiti, it is a ceremony that we still provide for women experiencing postpartum after birth, miscarriage, and abortion. The ceremony involves supports the mother's physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual healing that brings a sense of closure and peace after birth. It helps the pelvic organs shift, the uterus to shrink back down, and to align the bones. It is a way to honor the mother through this energetic shift of becoming a mother (again) or losing a child, or being sexually assaulted.
