A curated list of resources to help you through any mental health difficulties

Finding available mental health support in English Tokyo can be tough, but we’ve assembled a list of resources to help you find what you need. With in-person and online options, this section provides resources for long-term support, counselling services, and more. We’ll provide links and information for these areas, and do our best to keep things accessible to you. Your mental health is a top priority, make sure you have the resources you need on hand.

Suicide Helplines

Support & Resources for Crisis Situations

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. There are many suicide hotlines available in Japan, some even with English or other language support. While they can be a bit busy sometimes, there are always some options, and we’ve assembled a list of them for your convenience. — We want to let you know that you’re not alone, and we recommend reaching out to the hotlines, or someone you trust if you’re struggling. Sexual Health & Reproductive Services in Tokyo

Your sexual health is naturally very important, but you may not know where to start searching if you need help. Thankfully, there are many English-friendly resources available in Tokyo for reproductive care, STI testing, contraception resources, plan-B pills, and confidential support. These resources can help you feel comfortable and supported in Tokyo. Find the care and guidance you need.

Your resource guide to finding Physicians in Tokyo

Even just finding an English speaking doctor in Tokyo can feel like a headache sometimes, let alone understanding whether or not they accept National Health Insurance. Fear not, we’ve assembled a list of physicians to help get you started on finding a doctor in Tokyo. Over time we’ll add more resources and different specializations, so if you are having trouble finding something specific, let us know through the email at the bottom of the page, and in the near future we will work to make a section for that!

Domestic Violence

Ensuring you find support & safety in difficult times

If you are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence or abuse in Japan, help is available. Whether through shelters, crisis hotlines, or counselling, options are available in Tokyo. Nobody should face abuse alone — reach out and take your first step towards safety.

Sexual Violence

You Are Not Alone - Find Support, Resources, and Hope ❤️

Sexual violence includes any sort of non-consensual sexual act. Rape, Attempted rape, child molestation, and other forms of sexual assault or sexual harassment or threats. Most perpetrators of sexual abuse are familiar to the survivor and may be a friends, intimate partner, coworker, neighbour, or family member. If you have been a victim of any form of sexual violence, click the button above to find support.

Finding Resources, Community, & Support in Tokyo

Finding LGBTQ+ support and community in Japan can feel difficult, but there are options available! Whether it’s LGBTQ friendly mental health services, support groups, healthcare, or communities, we’re working to build a comprehensive resource for LGBTQ individuals to find the support they need. Everybody deserves to have access to the resources they need to thrive ❤️🏳️‍🌈.

TUJ Counselling

Mental health and Crisis Support Options exclusively for TUJ Students

TUJ Counselling is only for Students who are studying at Temple University Japan campus, but if you are such a student, then by accessing this website you can get free, confidential priority support through services provided at the University. Lots of love for Temple ❤️
