Through the Coronavirus outbreak, increasing cases of domestic violence (DV) and a worsening of domestic violence became a rising concern. Through Domestic Violence Hotline Plus, safe consultations for DV victims, consultations are provided by SNS, as well as on-site interpreter services and shelters. English consultation is available, as well as chats in other languages.

They also run an English speaking crisis hotline.

In addition to this, they provide professional face-to-face counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families in Tokyo and Okinawa. TELL Counseling accepts Cigna International and Tricare. Counseling services available in multiple languages including English, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Cantonese, Urdu, and Turkish.

About The Tokyo Rape Crisis Center

The Tokyo Rape Crisis Center, established by women in September 1983, is Japan's first rape crisis center and operates as a private volunteer organization. The center offers telephone counseling to women who have experienced rape or sexual violence. It also conducts campaigns to challenge those who condone or encourage rape and works to raise public awareness to foster a better understanding of rape issues.

Staffed entirely by female volunteers, the center relies on donations and membership fees from supporters. It publishes a newsletter three times a year, which is distributed to members and the general public to inform them about the center's activities.

The Website is in Japanese, and provides additional support for Japanese Language Speakers, though English services are also offered. If you are having difficulties using the website in Japanese, we highly recommend using the Google Translate Browser Extension, or other built-in translation services.

English Availability: English Support is more limited, though we recently were provided information that services in English would be available at the following times:
