Resources for the LBGTQ Community in Tokyo

Please note:

A great deal of resources in Tokyo only have Japanese websites. While we have done our best to include English sites as well, we highly recommend using the google translate extension or similar extensions in order to access any sites that aren't available in English.

Pride House Tokyo

LGBTQ Community

What does Pride House Tokyo do?

- Hosts Trans Day twice a month

- Clothing swaps

- Additional smaller events throughout the month

- Provides safe spaces for LGBTQ+ Youth

- Hosts Interlink groups for LGBTQ+ people with cultural or language minority identities (English and Chinese support)


They also provide some handbooks for LGBTQ Life in Japan, with more in depth information found here


Pride House offers two additional counselling services: Wraparound for youth under the age of 24, and LGBTQ+ Life Support Center both in Person and online

Nijiiro Diversity

NGO for LGBTQ+ in Japan, with information and consultation services

What does Nijiiro Diversity do?

Nijiiro Diversity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion and diversity in workplaces and society. Established in 2013, it was the first NPO in Japan to address LGBTQ+ discrimination in the workplace. They aim to bridge the gaps facing the LGBTQ+ community in Society here in Japan.


Main Activities: Research, Advocacy & Education

As this organization is based in Osaka, even more in-person resources are available there, however there also have a great deal of online resources available for people all over Japan.

Coprism

An organization from Kofu, Japan with a great resource guide for all of Japan including LGBTQ+ Legal Consultation information.

What does Coprism do?

- Provides resource lists for Japan

- Includes LGBTQ+ friendly legal consult

What does La Plus do?


- Provides a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals

Counselling and Crisis service with help available in multiple languages

What does TELL do?

- Some free and paid options for confidential support both online and in person: TELL Counselling

- Phone support for mental health crises and emotional distress: Lifeline (Crisis Hotline)
